Skin Treatment for Smoother Skin

Do you need a skin treatment to get rid of those unsightly bumps, lines and wrinkles? Fortunately, there are many easy ways to make your skin look and feel wonderful. They won’t break your budget either.

The most important skin treatment is to pay attention to your diet: Drink plenty of water to hydrate your skin and help flush out toxins and impurities. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables (or drink natural fruit and vegetable juices) to add the essential vitamins you need. Stay away from junk food, especially oily foods.

The same is true for your make-up. If you are prone to acne and other blemishes, stay away from oil-based makeup. However, if your skin is dry, oil-based makeup may add the touch of moisture you need to prevent wrinkles.

Get plenty of sleep. Most people need at least eight hours of sleep at night in order to recover from day-to-day stress physically, mentally and emotionally. The effects of stress can show up in your face in many ways: dull skin, fine lines, wrinkles and/or acne. A few minutes of additional sleep can be a wonderfully easy skin treatment.

Clean your skin twice daily. Find a cleanser that is effective for your skin type and use it consistently. A good cleanser will scrub away dirt and makeup, allowing your beautiful skin to show through. Look for a skin cleanser that contains alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) to remove dead skin cells. The more dead skin cells that adhere to your face, the more the wrinkles and other lines on your face will show.

If you are prone to acne and blemishes, use a product with benzoyl peroxide. Instead of simply applying it to existing blemishes, apply it evenly over your blemish-prone areas to prevent new breakouts.
Apply a moisturizer every night. Using a night cream will allow your skin to fully absorb the moisture it needs to look younger and blemish free.

Use a toner every day. By using the right toner for your skin, you will prevent your pores from clogging with dirt, oils and make up and thus also prevent blemishes.

While it may be very tempting to squeeze or pierce a pimple, the only time you should do so is when it has a yellow pustule on it or if it is a blackhead. If it is a whitehead or a standard pimple, squeezing it may lead to an infection or may spread the acne to other parts of your face. In that case, see a dermatologist for treatment.

While many people shy away from going to a dermatologist, he or she can recommend many a skin treatment that will help your particular condition. The field of dermatology has new breakthroughs every day: easy in-office microdermabrasion skin resurfacing, Retin-A wrinkle treatments, Botox injections and much more are readily available. If you are concerned about treatment costs, a reputable dermatologist will help you find an effective treatment you can afford.

Using an effective skin treatment needn’t be expensive or time consuming. By using common sense and taking the time to take care of your body, you will be rewarded with a younger, smoother complexion.

Photofacial Rejuvenation Results You Can Count On: Look Younger Fast

Photofacial rejuvenation is an exciting way to look younger, almost instantly. According to one study, 75 percent of those submitting a review of the procedure said it was worth it. Here’s what you need to know.

Photofacial rejuvenation is much like other skin resurfacing procedures in that it carefully removes blemishes, wrinkles and other skin problems, exposing younger, healthier skin beneath.

It is usually performed in a dermatologist’s or cosmetic surgeon’s office: The doctor (or a technician) aims a handheld laser device at each blemish. The laser flash zaps the blemish quickly and easily. Those who are concerned about pain needn’t worry: The sensation is most often compared to the feeling of a rubber band snapping against the skin. It may sting a little but any discomfort quickly disappears. And, while there is a flash of light as the lasers hit each area, your eyes will be protected by safety goggles.

The procedure is effective for a variety of skin problems: fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, freckles, rosacea, acne scars, enlarged pores and dull complexions. It’s most often used to repair sun damage, broken capillaries and uneven redness. After the procedure, your skin will look more even in tone and younger looking.

Depending on the extent of the work done, photofacial treatments generally last about a half-hour each. Many people need four or five such treatments in order to get satisfactory results. However, unlike laser resurfacing, there is no downtime: You can have the procedure done during your lunch hour and return to work looking wonderful.

Photofacial rejuvenation is not cheap: Depending on the extent of the work done, geographic location and other factors, treatment can range between $200 and $1,800 or more. Because it is a cosmetic procedure, insurance does not generally cover the procedure.

Also, it is important to know that, as with any medical procedure, complications can occur. The skin can become discolored and the procedure can result in more fine wrinkles and some people with sensitive skin can have more breakouts than before. While these occurrences are rare, you should consider them before signing on.

As with any medical procedure, it is best to find the most highly qualified doctor to perform photofacial rejuvenation. Get information about several doctors and find out which of them has had the most experience and training. Ask if photofacial rejuvenation is the best option for your skin and what risks and/or complications you might experience during the procedure. Ask about recovery time and what steps you may need to follow after treatment.

Generally, it is a simple matter of wearing sunscreen and avoiding harsh cleansers for a time.

While you will experience very quick results with photofacial rejuvenation, it is important to realize that it won’t stop the clock completely. Sooner or later the years will take their toll again and your skin will start drooping and wrinkles will reappear. You will likely have to repeat the procedure within a few years in order to maintain the results.

Photofacial rejuvenation is ideal if you want to turn back the clock quickly and easily. If you have a reunion, wedding or other special occasion coming up, this is a great way to ensure you look your very best.

Laser Resurfacing: 5 Essential Tips

Laser resurfacing is a great way to have younger, softer skin in a snap. However, as with any medical procedure, there are many things you can do to ensure you get the best results. Start by following these five essential tips.

1. Make sure your surgeon is highly qualified. Do some research online to find the best surgeon in your area. There are many websites that allow users to rate specific physicians and equipment, so make sure that others have gotten good results and that the surgeon in question has an excellent bedside manner and that his or her staff follows good medical office practices.

In addition, you should also find out about the person performing the procedure. How much training has he or she had? How long has he or she been performing the procedure? Is he or she properly licensed? What risks/complications could occur and what recourse do you have if something goes wrong? How do the rates compare to other doctors? If there is a significant difference in price, find out why.

2. Choose the best equipment for your needs and skin type. There are basically two types of laser resurfacing equipment: carbon dioxide and Erbium. People have gotten excellent results with both but people with darker skin tones have a greater risk of scarring and hyperpigmentation with carbon dioxide procedures.

The type of equipment used is also important because laser resurfacing technology is advancing rapidly. A doctor may be using outdated equipment that is not the best for your needs. Once you find out what equipment your doctor uses, do some research online to find out more about it.

3. Thoroughly and consistently follow post-surgical care instructions. Your skin is likely to be tender and raw for quite some time after your procedure. You must be sure to apply moisturizing creams and antibacterial ointments to prevent your skin from scabbing and/or becoming infected.

4. Drink plenty of water. Your new skin requires moisture in order remain young-looking and healthy. This is especially important right after the procedure so do your best to drink at least an eight-ounce glass every hour.

5. Wear a good sunscreen every time you go out. Even if the day is overcast and gloomy, the sun can be wreaking havoc on your new complexion. You need to apply a sunscreen with an SPF (sun protection factor) of at least 30 every time you go outside or even if you know you will be spending time near a window that lets in plenty of sunlight.

Even if you follow all these precautions to the letter, you should be aware that recovery time from laser resurfacing can be lengthy. Expect to be off work or school for at least a week, depending on the extent of the procedure. You skin may be red and tender for quite some time.

It is important to remember that laser resurfacing is a medical procedure and, like any other medical procedure, it has a certain amount of risk. However, if you take care to follow your doctor’s directions, you and your friends and family members will be amazed at how much younger you will look.

Eye Wrinkle Treatment: 4 Tips to Remove Lines

An effective eye wrinkle treatment can help you look younger instantly. Call them what you will: laugh lines, smile lines or crow’s feet, those fine lines around your eyes only add age to your face.

Fortunately there are four easy ways to get rid of them, or at least make them less prominent.

1. Separate two eggs. Discard the yolks and beat the whites together thoroughly. Apply it to around your eye area and let it soak in for 30 minutes before washing it off. Pat your face dry and you will be amazed at how much younger your eye area looks. Use this method no more than once a week as the skin around the eyes is delicate and can be easily damaged.

2. Prevent squinting. Get your eyes checked regularly and wear your glasses or contact lenses when you need them. Use adequate lighting. Wear sunglasses.

3. Before bed, massage the skin around your eyes: Apply an eye cream to your fingertips and use a slow, circular tapping motion, moving from your temples toward the nose. Be extra gentle as the skin around the eyes is very delicate.

4. Apply small pieces of Scotch tape or duct tape over your eye wrinkles overnight. Be sure to smooth out the skin as much as possible when you apply it. When you gently peel it off in the morning, you will be astounded at how much better your skin looks.

These are four very important tips for removing eye wrinkles. But just as important is learning what not to do.

1. Never rub your skin and especially never rub it from the nose outward. This could cause even more eye wrinkles.

2. Don’t use cream eye shadows as these tend to settle into the wrinkles, thereby emphasizing them.

3. Stop smoking and limit the amount of alcohol you drink.

4. Never use soap on your face, especially around the eyes. Soap is notoriously drying.

5. Do whatever you can to reduce stress and to limit such facial habits as squinting, grimacing and frowning.

There are many effective eye wrinkle treatment creams available and you can get good results by using one consistently.

As you know there are many products available, each with its own “secret patented formula.” Prices vary too but the more expensive versions are not necessarily the best ones.

Look for those with natural ingredients such as Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Glycerin, and Hyaluronic Acid. Other proven man-made ingredients that you should look for include: Eyeliss, Haloxyl and CynergyTK.

Before you try any eye wrinkle treatments, read product reviews about them online so you won’t waste your money. Read the reviews carefully so you can determine whether the product’s claims are just advertising hype or proven science. You may be surprised to find a generic version of that well-known high-priced brand is readily available.

By using these four eye wrinkle treatment tips you will go a long way toward looking younger and more beautiful. Try them today and use them consistently.

Deep Wrinkle Treatment: A Treatment That Really Works

Wouldn’t you love to find a deep wrinkle treatment that really works? Wouldn’t it be even better to find such a treatment that wouldn’t break the bank or require surgery? Fortunately there is such a treatment.

First, a little bit about deep wrinkles and why they occur. Unfortunately, you can’t completely avoid wrinkles because they come with aging. Once we pass the age of 30, our bodies don’t produce as much collagen or elastin, two proteins that make the skin flexible.

As the dermis layer of the skin becomes less flexible, the rest of the skin begins to sag. Thus, deep wrinkles form.

Fortunately, you can add collagen and elastin to your face and neck yourself. You can use one of the many products available at your nearest cosmetics counter or you can try this home remedy: Mash some pineapple or papaya and add a few drops of honey. Apply this mixture to your face and let it soak in for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing it off thoroughly.

You may also apply several different oils to your face, each of which is an effective deep wrinkle treatment. These include coconut oil, flaxseed oil, olive oil and vitamin E oil. Most of these are readily available at your grocery store or drug store. They moisturize your face to reduce the wrinkles you already have and prevent new ones from forming.

If you cannot find vitamin E oil you may also get effective results for your deep wrinkles by applying mashed avocado to your face for about 25 minutes before rinsing it off. Avocados are rich in vitamin E which books collagen production and also repairs damaged skin cells. It is also a good source of Vitamin A that increases moisture in the skin.

Deep wrinkles are not only caused by the aging process, they are also enhanced by toxins in the air. So it is essential to regularly cleanse your skin to eliminate those toxins before they damage your face. One way to do so is to apply plain yogurt daily to your skin. Yogurt is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. It also moisturizes and exfoliates your skin so your appearance will be more radiant.

Each of these products is an excellent deep wrinkle treatment that can be used alone or with the other methods. If you use them consistently, you will soon see results. But in order to maintain your results, you should also take care to:

1. Wear sunscreen whenever you go outside.

2. Never use products that contain soap or alcohol on your face as each of these can dry your skin.

3. Drink at least eight 8-oz glasses of water daily.

4. Always wear sunglasses and have your eyes checked regularly in order to prevent squinting.

5. Get plenty of sleep.

6. If you smoke, stop. Likewise, limit your consumption of alcohol.

7. Wear a moisturizer designed for your skin type every day.

These steps will go a long way toward making your deep wrinkles less prominent. Try them and you’ll find you don’t have to resort to Botox or expensive surgical procedures to get a deep wrinkle treatment that really works.

Dermabrasion procedures: Are they safe?

Dermabrasion is a popular method of getting younger, smoother skin. However, terms like abrasion, skin resurfacing and skin scraping may sound threatening to those considering these procedures. Are they safe?

The answer, as with many medical procedures, is yes. That is, if you take care to go to a qualified professional and follow pre- and post-procedure instructions carefully. Dermabrasion is usually performed by a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon. If there is a doctor you are considering for the procedure, ask how many dermabrasion procedures he or she has performed and the success rate. Ask about possible complications, such as risk of scarring, infection and of changes in skin pigment, which are the most common risks of the procedure.

Also ask what equipment is used in the procedure. Most often, he or she will use a rough wire brush or a burr with diamond particles to scrape away skin. Then he or she will apply some other treatment, such as ointments or dressings. When you leave the doctor’s office, the treated area will be red and swollen, a condition that will last a few days, followed by a scabby crust that forms to protect the new skin underneath. Your skin may feel itchy and sensitive for several weeks as it heals. Most experts say patients can return to work in two weeks and to active sports in four to six weeks. Many recommend an annual maintenance treatment.

Depending on a variety of factors, dermabrasion can improve skin’s appearance by 20 to 50 percent and the results are considered permanent, so it is a great choice if you want to remove tattoos or acne scars. However, it won’t prevent new wrinkles from forming.

Those who are put off by the downtime of dermabrasion might want to consider microdermabrasion instead. This procedure can be done by a plastic surgeon or dermatologist, a trained employee of a spa or salon or even by you at home. It involves using a hand-held instrument or specially formulated creams or lotions that exfoliate your skin. There are several different types available, depending on what you would like to accomplish.

To choose microdermabrasion products, you should consider your complexion. Is your skin blotchy and dull? Also consider your pores. Are they clogged or enlarged? Do you have whiteheads or blackheads? Next, consider your skin tone. Is it even throughout? You also need to consider your skin’s surface. Do you have a lot of wrinkles, fine lines or acne scars?

Once you’ve considered these factors, you should choose products that address those particular needs. Most importantly, you should consider your skin’s sensitivity. When you choose a product, try it in an inconspicuous place, such as behind an ear, to make sure your skin is not allergic to it. (Keep your receipt and try to return it if you do have a reaction.)

Once you find a product you like, take note of the brand and use it as often as directed to continue getting good results.

Dermabrasion and microdermabrasion are safe and effective ways to get beautiful skin as long as you use common sense and follow instructions to the letter.

Moisturizers for wrinkle treatment: often your lines

Moisturizers are the easiest, least expensive wrinkle treatment available. There are many products on the market that will help your face feel softer and at the same time make you look years younger.

In fact, a British consumer group, Which?, has found that that a readily available moisturizer performed just as well as anti-wrinkle creams costing 60 times as much, according to a report in The Daily Mail.

According to the article, 12 products were compared in the six-week-long study on subjects between the ages of 35 and 65. Before and after photos were taken and analyzed by five skin-care experts in a blind study, meaning they did not know which creams were used.

The fact that an over the counter moisturizer performed just as well as high-end wrinkle creams is encouraging news to those of us who must count our pennies but still want to look younger. However, at least one dermatologist has criticized the study, noting that moisturizers and anti-wrinkle creams perform different functions.

San Francisco dermatologist Kathleen M. Welsh, M.D. said that while moisturizers do reduce the appearance of wrinkles, it is only for the short term because moisturizers are not intended to be wrinkle treatment. Welsh said prescription-strength anti-wrinkle creams treat existing wrinkles and prevent new ones from appearing. She added that these creams work over many months, even years, thus a six-week-long study was not sufficient time to make a true comparison.

So where does that leave the rest of us? By all means use a moisturizer. It will help your skin look moist and hydrated, thus softening the appearance of your existing wrinkles. When you get up in the morning, use a daytime moisturizer with sun protection factor to protect your skin against the various pollutants that attack your skin every day. When it’s time for bed, apply a nighttime moisturizer that will soak in to the deeper layers of your skin.

Over time, consistent use of these moisturizers will make a difference in your wrinkles. However, if you think you need some extra care, consider using a wrinkle cream with a moisturizer built right in. Wrinkle creams are different from moisturizers as they actually tone the skin’s surface (that is, clean out dirt and oil) in addition to moisturizing it. To really treat wrinkles deep down, you may also need to use a wrinkle serum, which stimulates the body’s production of elastin and collagen, two proteins that help the skin’s flexibility.

Finding the right product for your face is a matter of trial and error. Your best bet is to start with the least expensive products at the drugstore or the cosmetics counter. Be sure to apply them correctly, according to package directions. Apply them in a circular motion, gently working your way up your neck and face and from the outer corner of each eye to the center. One tip: apply moisturizer while your face is still damp to keep your skin extra hydrated.

Moisturizers are an important and effective way to keep wrinkles at bay. Use them regularly and give watch the years melt off your face.

Skin Care Products: Brighten Your Face, Eliminate Wrinkles

With so many skin care products on the market, it can be very hard to choose which ones are best for you. Which ones will brighten your face and eliminate wrinkles as they claim? Which ones will only make your wallet lighter? Here are some basics you should know.

First to brighten your face, you need to slough away the dead skin layers to let the new skin show through. You can do this in many ways. Exfoliating cleaners stimulate skin cells to help them renew. There are many exfoliating skin cleansers available to suit a variety of skin types.

No matter what your skin type is, apply the right product and gently rub it into your face with a circular motion. Only use these skin care products for a few minutes and no more than once a week to avoid irritation.

Microdermabrasion products provide more extensive exfoliation. They provide deeper cleansing and can help eliminate dark skin patches and make dull skin look brighter and younger.

Face masks are fun skin products that can be used once or twice each week to even out your complexion. Most of them are to be used in 10- to 15-minute sessions to rejuvenate the face. When used properly, skin will definitely look younger and brighter.

In addition to brightening the skin, everyone wants to eliminate wrinkles. So of course there are countless skin care products to help reduce or eliminate them. However many people don’t know the difference between the various over-the-counter products on the market.

Wrinkle creams are intended to protect and tone skin surface to prevent more wrinkles from appearing.

Wrinkle serums, on the other hand, boost the body’s production of collagen and elastin, to make the skin more flexible. While serums are applied on top of the skin, they are designed to sink in to the deeper layers.

Moisturizers and lotions hydrate the skin to prevent dryness and prevent new wrinkles from forming.

It’s easy to see why people get confused about these products, especially when many of these varieties are combined into a single product or a line of products. There are also special formulations for each of these to suit particular needs. A wrinkle cream may contain a sun block for example. Another product may come in a fragrance-free variation. A wrinkle serum may come with a special cleanser made especially for dry or aging skin.

If you have wrinkles, which skin care products should you use? First of all, use a gentle cleanser every day, preferably one with a moisturizer. Never use plain soap on your face as it can dry out your skin too much.

You should also have a daytime moisturizer with a sun block or sunscreen. Use it religiously every day to prevent the formation of new wrinkles.

At night use a wrinkle cream to eliminate the wrinkles you already have.
Which brands of these products are best?

That’s something only you can decide. Read product reviews, ask your friends and family members and consult cosmetic counter beauty experts. Select skin care products in your price range that are enjoyable to use. The best products are the ones you will use so you will get the results you want.

Facial wrinkles smoothed with light and green tea: new wrinkle treatment

green-tea.jpg

German scientists have developed an amazing new treatment for facial wrinkles, involving high intensity light from light emitting diodes (LEDs), and a green tea lotion.

They believe that this new treatment could be an alternative to treatments like Botox, and even an alternative to plastic surgery.

LED Light And Green Tea Cream Smooth Facial Wrinkles reports:

“They applied a daily combination of LED light and green tea extract to the facial wrinkles of a human volunteer one month. The combination treatment resulted in smoother skin, including ‘less pronounced wrinkle levels, shorter wrinkle valleys, and juvenile complexion,’ the scientists say.”

Green tea extracts are occasionally used in cosmetics and skin care products, and of course, green tea is healthy too.

If you’ve avoided Botox, this treatment provides an alternative; it’s an exciting innovation.

Wrinkle Treatment: 5 Easy, Safe Treatments

Wrinkle treatment is a multi-million-dollar industry. Check the cosmetics aisle at your local store and you’ll see new products every week. However, you don’t have to part with your hard-earned cash. You can prevent or reduce your wrinkles by following these five easy, safe treatments:

1. Watch your diet. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, accompanied by whole grains. Avoid sugar, which has been proven to affect collagen, a protein that makes skin more elastic. Drink plenty of water to moisturize your skin from within. If you smoke, stop. Smoking is a leading cause of wrinkles.

2. Here’s egg on your face! Beat an egg and then apply it to your face and neck. You’ll be surprised at how your skin loves to absorb the protein. Your skin will feel and look tighter and better.

3. Don’t hold the mayo, wear it instead. Apply mayonnaise to your face and neck and let it soak in for at least 30 minutes. The oils in the mayonnaise will act as a moisturizer, providing dramatic results.

4. The rest of your body enjoys a massage, why not your face? Apply any kind of face cream to your finger and gently massage your face. Begin at the outer corner of your eyes and move gently inward to the nose. (Never go the other way or you will make the wrinkles worse.) Next, rub your cheeks in a clockwise motion starting from the top, follow by massaging around the lips in the same way. Finally, massage your neck, only using upward strokes. Do this daily and your skin will look rosier and you will feel more relaxed as well.

5. Wear a hat and sunscreen. The sun can cause more skin damage than almost anything else. UVA rays can pass through window glass, so wearing sunscreen indoors can be beneficial.

These five wrinkle treatments can be readily done at home, with products you already have. In order to get the most benefit from them, remember to also:

Get enough sleep. Most adults need about eight hours of sleep. When you don’t get enough sleep, your body produces cortisol, a stress hormone that breaks down skin cells. By getting enough sleep, your body produces more human growth hormone that improves skin elasticity.

Don’t squint. Your mother was right: “Your face will freeze like that”. Get a good pair of glasses and sunglasses. Use adequate lighting so you can see what you’re doing. Squinting causes your facial muscles to form grooves beneath the skin’s surface, resulting in — guess what? — wrinkles.

Don’t use soap on your face or neck. Hand soap should be used on your hands. Its ingredients are too drying to ever be used on delicate facial skin. If you inadvertently get some on your face, rinse it off thoroughly and gently with warm water. Pat your face dry, don’t rub it.

Wrinkle treatments for your face don’t have to cause an arm or a log. There are plenty of easy, safe ways to prevent and treat wrinkles. Your skin will thank you.
