Botox linked to deaths
November 12th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedConsidering using Botox to smooth out wrinkles?
This article may give you cause to think again.
“Four recent deaths in under-18s over there are suspected to be as a result of Botox usage.
In America, Botox has also been linked with deaths caused by severe allergic reactions and breathing problems - 180 reports have been sent to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration about Botox and a competitor called Myobloc.
Meanwhile, a study published in the Journal of Neuroscience claimed Botox can spread to the brain.
Rats were injected with the toxin and three days later scientists found traces in the rodents’ brain stems which were still there six months later.
The toxin produced by the bacterium clostridium botulinum is one of the deadliest germs known to man, and many doctors are also concerned that some patients are actually becoming addicted to Botox.”

Anti-aging skin care: Seven easy steps for you to follow
July 4th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedNo one over the age of 18 really wants to look older than they are. That’s why anti-aging skin care is a perennially hot topic. Here are seven easy tips to help you keep wrinkles and sags at bay. We’ve also included one last secret tip to have you looking young all the time.
As you will see from this list, you don’t need expensive Botox injections or multiple face lifts to prevent the aging process. Using a little common sense will go a long way.
1. Stay out of the sun. While we used to worship the sun to get that “healthy” bronze glow, we all know now that we were setting ourselves up for premature wrinkles and skin cancer. Just don’t do it. If you want to enjoy the fresh air, slather on sunscreen and wear sunglasses and a hat. Also try not to go outside during the heat of the day (between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.). Don’t go to tanning booths either, they cause premature wrinkling in exactly the same way - and you have to pay for it, too.
2. Stop making faces. Over the next few days, pay attention how much you squint, pucker your lips or furrow your brow. (To do this, some people put a piece of tape on their forehead or near their lips.) The more you do, the more wrinkles will set in.
3. Don’t smoke. Remember what we said in step two. The more you pucker your lips holding that cigarette in your mouth, the sooner you will develop wrinkles. Of course, when you stop smoking, Your lungs will thank you too.
4. Avoid alcohol. Ever notice how puffy your face feels the morning after a party? It was probably caused by the alcohol you drank the night before. While the puffiness goes away, the swelling and shrinking of your skin will lead to wrinkles over time.
5. Exercise. Studies have shown that people who exercise on a regular basis have more elasticity in their skin and thus fewer wrinkles. Exercise also helps relieve stress, thus you will have fewer tendencies to furrow your brow, squint or making those faces we mentioned in step two above.
6. Eat right. You need the right balance of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and protein to maintain great skin. By skipping sugar, caffeine and junk food, you’re leaving your body more room for the foods it needs.
7. Clean and moisturize the right way. Medical experts recommend cleansing your skin no more than twice a day, focusing more on rinsing your skin than scrubbing it. Use a gentle cleanser, rinse and pat dry. Apply a gentle moisturizer designed for your skin type.
These seven steps are all you really need for your anti-aging skin care routine. By following them, you will feel better and look younger. You don’t need a lot of fancy creams or expensive treatments to get and keep a youthful appearance.
That extra tip? Smile. Everyone looks better and younger when they smile. A genuine smile draws people to the gleam in your eye, rather than the wrinkles on your face.

Tempted by Botox?
April 24th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedNo one likes lines and wrinkles. On the other hand, Botox may present real health risks.
“A new study has found the potent injectable may not stay strictly in your wrinkles. It could migrate to your brain.
It’s true. Animal research published in the April 2008 issue of the Journal of Neuroscience, confirms suspicions that the botulinum-based wrinkle injectable known as BOTOX (also Dysport, Neuronox, Xeomin and VISTABEL) can migrate from the site of injection into the central nervous system.”
Oops. I think I can learn to love the lines on my face…
