Anti wrinkle Products or Surgery: You decide
Anti wrinkle products or surgery — There are pros and cons to both means of looking younger. Here’s a comparison of them so you can make the better decision for you and your lifestyle.
Products
Pro:
Anti wrinkle products are far less expensive than surgery. A month’s supply of products may cost well less than $100.
Anti wrinkle products don’t require cutting into the skin or injecting substances under your skin.
Many effective products are readily available at the cosmetics counter. You don’t have to have a prescription or make doctor visits to get the look you want.
Beautifying creams and lotions smell wonderful and feel so good on your face. Massaging them into your skin can be a lovely way to relax.
Many people make their own products to eliminate wrinkles. Get your girlfriends together some evening and have fun making your own potions and applying them on each other, like an old-fashioned slumber party.
Con:
Choosing anti wrinkle products can be a hit-or-miss affair because some manufacturers make unsubstantiated claims about what their creams and lotions can do. In addition, everyone’s skin is slightly different; you may use a product only to find that you are allergic or sensitive to some of the ingredients. Thus, you can spend hundreds of dollars on a miracle cream that just doesn’t work.
It can take several weeks to see results, if any.
You must be consistent in applying the products to your face in the correct amounts. If you start skipping days, you won’t get the results you are looking for.
If your favorite product is discontinued, you may have to start your product search all over again from scratch.
Surgery
Pros:
The chief benefit to anti wrinkle surgery is the instant result. You will leave the doctor’s office or hospital looking instantly younger. If you are in a career in which your appearance is important, the instant results of surgery can be worth the effort.
Medical professionals will see to it that the procedure is done correctly. You can rest easy knowing that they have been well trained in doing things safely and thoroughly.
There’s no guesswork. You don’t have to read umpteen labels and try to figure out what each ingredient does. You don’t have to wonder whether product claims are true.
Cons:
One chief disadvantage to surgery is the risk. Surgery is a medical procedure and it carries many risks. Is it worth risking your life to look like a 20-year-old temporarily? There is also the risk of medical errors that may permanently scar your face or leave it frozen in a bizarre expression.
Another disadvantage is the cost. Do you really want to spend thousands of dollars on a procedure that will likely have to be repeated, perhaps as soon as six months from now?
Surgery also recovers some recovery time. While those wrinkles will be gone the day you leave the doctor’s office or hospital, you may need some downtime to let your face heal. You will also have to change dressings and apply healing ointments to prevent infections. Can you take the time off work to let your skin heal properly?
The choice between anti wrinkle products and surgery is not always easy.
In general, start with the easiest, less-risky and less-expensive option and then work up until you get the results you want and/or need. Only you can decide what those are.
