Anti Aging Skin Products: Getting Value for Money

Anti aging skin products all seem to have one thing in common: No matter the brand, it seems you have to pay through the nose to get that youthful complexion we all want.

In today’s tough economy, we are all trying to get the
best value for our money. Fortunately, it is possible to get great value, even with anti aging skin care products. Here’s how:

First of all, consider what your skin really needs. Go to the mirror and take a close look at your face: Do you have a lot of wrinkles, or just a few? Do you have dry patches on your cheeks or forehead? Are your eyelids or your chin starting to sag?

Second, consider what anti aging skin products you already have. If you already have a cabinet full of anti-wrinkle creams, it doesn’t make any sense to go searching for yet another one. Of the products you already have, which ones have you actually used? How long have you used them? Have you really used them consistently? Or, were you like the rest of us, who use the latest product for a day or two, then blow it off just this once and never get back into it? Pick one of those products and start using it again, every day, and see what happens. (Be sure to check it first: If you think it is more than six months old, throw it out.)

Third, make sure you have these basics: Cleanser/toner, moisturizer, eye cream and exfoliator. These are the four anti aging skin products everyone needs. Each one serves a specific purpose. However, if you are looking for the best value for your money, choose only one of each product. For example, you probably don’t really need a daytime moisturizer and a nighttime moisturizer. Why not just get one that you can use at either time of day?

Fourth, read product reviews. While a product’s ads and packaging are pretty and persuasive, they aren’t necessarily true. Before you pay hard-earned cash for the latest miracle cream, go online and find out whether other people were satisfied with it. You can also find out whether product testing agencies have any recommendations.

Fifth, go generic. If you are considering a product at your local grocery or drug store, check to see if there are similar products at a better price. Often a chain store will offer similar products under its own label that cost much less because they don’t have to pay for separate advertising. Also, smaller cosmetics companies may make products similar to the one you are considering. Just read the ingredients to make sure they are essentially the same.

Sixth, consider making your own products. There are many resources for homemade beauty products, including skin care. By using your own household items you will know exactly what is going on your face. You will also save a lot of money: A jar of petroleum jelly has many uses. A large jar costs just a few dollars and will last for months.
Seventh, consider surgery and other treatments wisely. Certain anti-aging treatments involving injections are not usually worth the money: Why pay thousands of dollars for a procedure with results that only last a few months? Others, however, offer long-lasting effects that may be worth the investment.

Anti-aging skin products can be had at a great price. As long as you pick products that fit your skin type, and use them correctly and faithfully, they will pay you back with interest.
